JILL BORLAND, LPC, NCC

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) since 2004 which includes my 3000 hours of internship. I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Special Education in 1993 from The University of North Texas and my Master’s degree in Counseling/Psychology in 2003 from Tarleton State University. I have 14 years experience in education with six of those years being spent as a school counselor, six years as a special education teacher and two years in a general education setting.

In addition to working in a variety of educational settings and institutions, I was blessed to join The Center for Children and Families as an LPC-intern in 2004, then as a LPC in November of 2006. Here I have found a great network of Christian therapists, psychologist and office staff who share my goal to help others find ways to help themselves.

Over the last 14 years I have spent my professional time working for the improvement of children and young adults. As a teacher, I helped many parents and students work through behavioral management issues as well as social interaction deficits. We worked together to build their child’s self-esteem and self-worth. As a counselor, I work with the same goals in mind, however, I am able to use a variety of theoretical techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy. No matter what “theory” is used in therapy, my belief is that it must be beneficial to the client and his/her mental health wellness.
Although I have spent my career focused on children, young adults and their families, I have a peaking interest in marriage/relationship counseling as well as women’s issues.
